EFX Tuning–a relatively small performance shop in Lindenwold, New Jersey 2–claimed that it had recorded the fastest quarter-mile using an “all-motor” C8 Corvette. And, of course, a video proves that it might be the case.
A Youtube footage published by the channel “TalonTSi97 Videos” shows the C8 Corvette at the Atco Drag Way in Atco, New Jersey. In the video, it can be seen that the crew of EFX Tuning were able to record successive runs of the C8 that go below the official time of Chevrolet, which is 11.2 seconds.
The best record of the Arctic White 2020 Corvette in the video was 10.523 seconds at 129.67 mph. In the next run, it got the same time while hitting 129.45 mph. The consistency was established, too. The three tests yielded the following results: 10.544 seconds (129.12 mph), 10.558 seconds (129.23 mph), and 10.685 (129.85 mph). It has to be noted that there were no times displayed on the board. Fortunately, time slips are shown at the end of the clip.
The ECU of the mid-engine C8 Corvette proves to be a difficult component to crack, even by the most seasoned shops in the aftermarket. Because of this, EFX Tuning just preserved the stock tuning and camshaft of the American Hero. It also veered away from turbocharging the factory 6.2-liter V8 engine of the vehicle. However, it also introduced some modifications that pumped its performance in the drag strip. It was equipped with the following utilities: American Racing Headers, Xtreme CFM Ported Heads, Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, Brisk Racing Spark Plugs, and American Racing Exhaust.
With these add-ons, it is not a surprise that the all-motor C8 Corvette performed better than expected. But even without these augmentations, there’s no mistaking that the supercar is already a speedy beast.
