There are numerous incidents of idiotic car thieves that we have seen so far. We can always recall that one guy who got trapped inside a Model 3 while stealing it.
However, it seems that these thieves are trying to step up their dumbness and raise the bar for it. In this video, you will find a man who successfully broke inside an Audi R8 equipped with a dashcam. He didn’t bother to turn it off or get out of the vehicle even though he heard that the system is recording him and his dreadful actions. The police caught him because of this, and we are thankful for that.
This incident took place in New South Wales, Australia. The incident started when the police chased him while he was riding in his Ford Fusion. His initial escape attempt was successful, though. He was able to leave the Fusion and hovered through the fences of a nearby neighborhood, where he stole numerous items and valuables.
According to 9News, during his ransacking spree where he found the keys to the Audi R8. The R8 was sitting idly in the garage. It seems he didn’t realize the dashcam was on. He proceeded to go on a joyride with the vehicle; in the video, we see that he was speeding more than 100 mph.
We may not like how he drives but we know that he didn’t care about the vehicle. At least, he should have been wary enough not to drive recklessly. Throughout the video, you’ll cringe at how he almost rammed numerous vehicles and pedestrians.
The car sustained damages from his escapades. The suspension, wheels, and brakes were all in bad shape.
Three days later, Darren Johns, 49, was arrested by the police. He received the following charges: reckless driving, car theft, and unlicensed driving. The owners of the Audi R8 recovered their vehicle. We hope they have plenty of insurance to cover the repairs.
